Web 2.0 and Social Media

While I was searching facts about the difference between Web 2.0 and social media, I found an interesting presentation. Although it didn’t answer very clearly the difference between the two but there are some interesting facts about today’s Internet usage. If you have time, do browse through the presentation below.

From what I understand, Web 2.0 is the technology behind everything we use today. Blogs, wiki, podcast, RSS, etc. On the other hand, social media is online services that are utilizing Web 2.0 technology to make us engage socially online. Facebook, WordPress, YouTube, etc. There’s no fix boundary of differences between the two. Rather I believe Web 2.0 is the bigger umbrella where social media sits.

I will try to find out more and share later. 🙂
